Bristol Kitchen

On the first Saturday of each month, we prepare and serve a hearty, nutritious meal to from 50 to 80 hungry people at Bristol Kitchen in Waltham, Massachusetts. Cooking for Bristol Kitchen is one of our oldest mission efforts in continuous service. About half of the clients served are residents of the Bristol Lodge men's and families' shelters and the rest are people from the community. This nightly meal is open to anyone.

Food Pantries

Volunteers from BWUMC help out at the Belmont Food Pantry on the third Saturday of every month to sort, shelve and distribute food to the less fortunate members of our community. The Watertown Food Pantry operates out of our Watertown site on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons. Volunteers and donations (non-perishable food items and toiletries such as toothpaste, shampoo, and diapers) for both pantries are always welcome!

The Young Parents Program (YPP)

We regularly deliver handmade baby blankets to the Young Parents Clinic at Children’s Hospital and welcome the donation of yarn or cloth. The Young Parents Program, a specialty clinic within the Children’s Hospital Primary Care Center, provides comprehensive medical care, mental health services and advocacy to high-risk, inner-city teen parents and their young children. The program serves approximately 250 teenage mothers, 75 young fathers and 300 babies every year.

Prison Ministries

Through Partakers’ “College Beyond Bars” Program, BWUMC sponsors an inmate at MCI Framingham, providing material and emotional assistance to help advance her education. Members correspond with her and visit with her to provide moral support and guidance. Our current client is successfully working toward a bachelor’s degree, with the aim of completing it before her release.

Cooper Community Center Christmas Gifts

Each year we provide Christmas Gifts for the children of Cooper Community Center and their young siblings. Cooper Community Center is located on Washington St. in Roxbury and serves the Greater Roxbury neighborhoods.

Thanksgiving Ingathering

We’ve partnered with Calvary UMC in Arlington to supply Thanksgiving dinners in Arlington.

Alternative Giving Fair

During December we showcase Christmas gifts for friends and family that also help those around the world and close to home. Featured each year are Heifer International, All Hands In (including Thistle Farms and Nightlight), Justice for Our Neighbors, and more!
