Director of Christian Education
We are looking for a person passionate about developing and running programs and events to enrich the lives of both the members of congregation of BWUMC and our neighbors.
The average commitment 10-15 hours / week; must be available most Sunday mornings and ideally including Easter and Christmas Eve (for the early evening family service), the other hours are flexible. Time off on certain weekends can be granted with advance notice.
Keep the sanctuary safe - organize CORIs, enforce safety policies, etc.
Manage the education budget
Work with Sunday School staff and Ed committee to decide on curriculum and order any necessary supplies
Report to the Church Council on education plans and programs
Hire and manage child-care worker(s).
Internal Community Education & Organization
Coordinate volunteers for Sunday School / nursery / other ed commitments
Engage and communicate with parents on a regular basis, to keep them informed and excited about Christian Ed at BWUMC
Meet with Ed committee on a regular basis
Develop adult Christian education opportunities and communities
Community Education and Outreach
Create, advertise, and run community events that create simple service and/or fellowship opportunities for our neighbors regardless of church affiliation or interest
Create new relationships with members of the community outside the church walls
Close relationship with God
Positive can-do attitude
Excellent organization and logistical skills
Experience (including volunteer) in any of the areas of community organization, community outreach, Christian education, or childhood education.
